Balinale to Take Part in Celebrating 15 Years of Asian Cinema Excellence Asian Film Awards and HK International Film and TV Market

Friday,10 March 2023 – BALI, INDONESIA – Balinale, the prestigious Bali International Film Festival based in Bali, is excited to announce its participation in two upcoming events in Hong Kong.

The first event is the Asian Film Awards (AFA), which recognizes the outstanding artistic achievements of talent and films in the Asian region and promotes Asian film cultures regionally and internationally. AFA is organized by the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA), which was founded in 2013 by the Busan International Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, and the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Balinale’s founder, Deborah Gabinetti, will attend the AFA event on 12 March at the invitation of Dr. Wilfred Wong, Chairman of the Asian Film Awards Academy. Two Indonesian films are vying for Asian Film Awards in several categories; ‘Autobiography’ by Makbul Mubarak and ‘Before, Now & Then’ by Kamila Andini.

Balinale is in its 16th edition recognized internationally for the diversity of its programming consisting of Indonesian and international independent films, workshops, and industry forums. Establishing creative partnerships include The Juilliard School, Berlinale, and AFAA where it presented Asian Cinerama 2022 in Jakarta.

Following the AFA event, Gabinetti will represent Bali Film Center (BFC) at the HK International Film and TV Market-Asia’s Leading Entertainment Content Marketplace. The event will take place from 13-16 March, and BFC will exhibit with fellow Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) members. BFC is a founding member of AFCNet, a network of film commissions and film agencies in Asia that aim to promote the growth of the regional film industry and contribute to local development. AFCNet currently has 54 members from 20 countries. Bali Film Center has over two decades of excellence in delivering professional production services when filming throughout Indonesia.
