Bali, Indonesia – BALINALE International Film Festival (4-10 October) Closing Night Audience Choice Awards Presentation was held at The Stones Hotel – Legian Bali, Autograph Collection on Thursday, 10 October.
This year’s Audience Choice Awards selection of films made it the most exciting to date with the following results:
BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM: GO GRANDRIDERS – Chinese Taipei
BEST FEATURE FILM: AIR MATA TERAKHIR BUNDA (Indonesia)
BEST SHORT FILM: LINEAR (Brazil)
BEST OVERALL FILM: 9 SUMMERS 10 AUTUMNS (Indonesia)
SPECIAL RECOGNITION: TATARAKIHI: THE CHILDREN OF PARIHAKA (New Zealand)
Festival was attended by International filmmakers and artists representing films from 20 countries and Indonesian artists such as Raditya Dika, Titi Rajo Bintang, Happy Salma, Donny Damara, Julia Perez, Alex Komang, Agus Kuncoro, Tika Bravani, Ario Bayu, Rizky Hanggono, Rima Melati, Didi Petet and Festival Co-Founder Christine Hakim. Visiting filmmakers included; Donna Smith, Michael Altman, Paora Joseph, Jan Chapman, Emmanuel Palo, Jong Pil Lee, Ryu Hyun-Kyung, Hua Tien-hao amongst others.
BALINALE was visited by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Mari Pangestu before the World Premiere Screening of Rahabi Mandra and Hanung Bramantyo’s high anticipated ‘2014’. The film is planned for theatrical release January 2014.
Beside the award-winning independent films shown, BALINALE also screened studio box office DON JON and ABOUT TIME.
Having such a huge selection of fine films to choose from this year, the festival saw an increase in enthusiast young audience members.
