Balinale Holds Regional Film Production Seminar In The Asian Cinerama Series

JAKARTA – The Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) together with the Bali International Film Festival (Balinale), supported by the Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) and the Film Development Fund (FDF) will hold the Asian Cinerama which will be the first program to welcome the 2023 Balinale. The Asian CinemaHong Kong Focus program lasts for four days, starting from September 15-18 2022, at Plaza Indonesia XXI, Jakarta.

Asian Cinerama presents six cutting-edge production films from various genres which are interesting works from Hong Kong filmmakers. The film Shadows by director Glenn Chan started the premiere.

Shadows is a Hong Kong film that is hailed as one of the best films. Producer and author of the film script Shadows, Mani Man, will be present and perform questions after the screening of the film and attend a seminar themed on the issue of Tegional Film Production at Binus University, Jakarta.

“We are pleased to be able to present Mani Man, producer and author of the screenplay for the film that started the Cinerama Asia program with the film SHADOWS. Mani will talk about issues around production financing, cooperation opportunities, as well as efforts to introduce talented local filmmakers,” explained Deborah Gabinetti, Director and Founder of Balinale.

Mani Man is also the Deputy of GM mm2 Entertainment Hong Kong, a leading entertainment and media content company that has regional representatives in Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, and the United States.

“It’s great to be able to visit Jakarta with my latest film SHADOWS,” said Mani Man when contacted Monday, September 12.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting Indonesian audiences and having the opportunity to meet local filmmakers. Hopefully the audience will enjoy our film and the Binale have brought us to Indonesia,” he said.

The films that attended the Asian Cinerama: SHADOWS (2020) Director: Glenn Chan, MADALENA (2021) Director: Emily Chan, ANITA (2021) Director: Longman Leung, TABLEFor SIX (2022) Director: Sunny Chan, CHILLI LAUGH STORY (2022) Director: Try Cheng, and RAGING FRE (2021) Director: Benny Chan.

Since 2007, the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) has introduced the best Indonesian films such as OPERA JAVA, the work of Garin Nugroho’s director with Rahayu Supanggah who won the award with the Best Komposter.

LOVELY MAN by Teddy Soeriaatmadja who received several nominations with Donny Damara as the recipient of the Best Actor Award, and Edwin as the talented director of the recipient “The Edward Yang New Talent Award”.

Several other nominations: THE RANBOW TROOPS/LASKAR PELANGI directed by Riri Riza, THE MIRROR NEVER LIES by director Kamila Andini, WHAT THEON’T TVK ABOUT WHEN THEYTALK ABOUT LOVE and MARLINA THE MURDERER IN FUR ACTS, both of them are works by Mouly Surya.

The Bali International Film Festival (Balinale) will continue its tradition of presenting extraordinary creative works, authentic works from all over the world, as well as supporting the growth of local works that describe the creative abilities and potential of the Indonesian film industry.
