After 12 years of successfully bringing stars and essence of the global film industry to Indonesia, Balinale – Bali International Film Festival is set to return this year for the 13th iteration on 24 – 29 September 2019.

Key players in both the Indonesian and international film industry will once again flock to Bali to network with professional colleagues, pitch projects, scout talent and locations, and attend film top quality film viewings.

It is evident from the 350 films from 60 countries already in, with more new entries coming in daily, that the prestige of Balinale – Bali International Film Festival has grown to be very respectably recognized. In keeping with the current vibrancy of the national film sector, Indonesian submissions are running at record highs for this year’s event.

The event’s general rundown remains the same as last year, with some of the world’s best shorts, feature films, and documentaries will be showcased over the 5-day event, including the world-premiere of several major movies. There will be free family movies, professional workshops, seminars and guest appearances by local and global filmmakers and celebrities to ensure a fun-filled celebration of cinema that pleases all.

Last year’s Bali International Film Festival attracted over 9,000 professionals and film aficionados. Bringing together nearly 90 filmmakers, investors, and industry professionals from around the world.

Commenting on Bali Film Festival 2019, Deborah Gabinetti, Executive Director of the Bali Film Center and Founder of Balinale, said: “The Festival has become internationally known among established and aspiring filmmakers for its role in promoting Indonesian cinema, art and culture. Active participants in the creative economic sector of filmmaking come to Bali from far and near talk film, network with international colleagues, and to participate in the workshops and seminars that are an important part of our event.”

Returning to this year’s Festival and integrated into the main program will be the BalinaleX Industry Forum presenting interactive roundtables exploring new commercial opportunities and discussing bureaucratic obstacles that may be impeding the full development of Indonesia’s film sector. Encouraging industry professionals, policy makers, government officials, and key stakeholders’ participation in a no-holds-barred dialogue – BalinaleX explores and identifies creative openings and win-win solutions to problems plaguing the filmmaker sector.

Topics and slated to be discussed at BalinaleX are: The Story, The Business, and The Location. Highlighting Indonesia as an international film location, information will be presented demonstrating the country as an attractive and unique film location for international co-productions, citing case studies of successful past film and television projects made in Indonesia.
