Exciting highlights of the 10th 'Bali International Film Festival', also known as 'BALINALE', held annually on Bali, Indonesia from 24 - 30 September. BALINALE 2016 unveiled a diverse selection of remarkable films from around the globe with 102 titles from 31 countries under its running theme 'No Boundaries' - where there are no limits to creativity or the means of expression. The festival held a series of associated cultural, community & industry events, and as a significant strategy of the festival to promote the growth & recognition of Indonesian Cinema, showcased 'Special Previews' of new and upcoming releases presented by the film's cast & crew.

BALINALE is known internationally for the diversity of its programming consisting of Indonesian and international independent and award winning fiction, documentary, feature & short films and recognized for the quality of the associated events to include; Film Screenings & Premieres, Free Open Air Cinema, Workshops, Student Films, & Children’s Charity Film Program.

Highlights of the 9th annual 'Bali International Film Festival', also known as 'BALINALE', held in Bali, Indonesia in September 2015. The final number of films selected totaled 105 titles from 29 countries with 50 participating filmmakers.

With the theme Face of Diversity, the festival presented films that entertained and inspired, challenged and exposed us to the rich diversity and uniqueness of people, places, cultures and beliefs. The program included an excellent mix of world cinema and a record 26 local gems many showing as premieres and several with filmmakers here meeting with our enthusiastic and appreciative audience members.

View highlights from our 8th annual event to include Affiliate Programs, Media Launch, Film Premieres, Workshops, Charity & Community Events, Filmmaker Gatherings and the ever popular Audience Choice Awards Closing Night Party. BALINALE 2014 was attended by some of the biggest names in the domestic film industry; Producers, Directors and Celebrities presented their work alongside international award winning filmmakers. Cultural Officials represented several of the 18 countries featured from the record 60 titles screened to include 21 Asian, 5 International and 3 World Premieres.

Sundance Film Forward in Indonesia . BALINALE 2014 proudly partnered with US Embassy Jakarta in bringing a series of award winning documentary films from the prestigious Sundance Institute Film Forward International Touring Program. In attendance was Film Editor Doug Blush who presented the Oscar winning Twenty Feet from Stardom and discussed the film with an appreciative audience during two screenings. Doug also conducted a documentary filmmaking workshop with the local film community.

Sundance Institute Film Forward International Touring Program was held at Bentara Budaya Bali with Film Editor Doug Blush conducting a one day discussion on filmmaking for the local film community, as well as, presenting his Oscar winning ‘Twenty Feet from Stardom’.
A personal taped greeting from the Archbishop as the BALINALE audience settled in to watch this truly inspiring film. 'Children of the Light' directed by Dawn Engle (USA) is the first film to tell the life story of Nobel Prize winner Desmond Tutu, one of the fathers of modern day South Africa. With extensive archival footage, family photos and never before seen interviews, the documentary is a personal look into the legacy of one of the greatest peacemakers of our time. The film’s Asian Premiere was held on 18 October as the festival’s Closing Night Feature.
