EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
In 2007, BALINALE International Film Festival established the Young Indonesian Film Circle as a mentorship program to enable local pre-selected students from throughout Indonesia to work alongside established Indonesian and international actors, producers, directors and writers to learn about the art of filmmaking.

In 2008, twelve international award-winning filmmakers screened their films and participated in five workshops and panel discussions. Richard Horowitz on the art of 'The Importance of Traditional Eastern Music in Film'. Noted producer and director Catherine Madigan and Richard Todd on the challenges of Documentary Filmmaking 'The Power of One'.

BALINALE International Film Festival hopes to offer a new possibility for the next generation of independent Indonesian filmmakers to develop skills and showcase their work to a diverse audience here in Bali, and to help them seek opportunities to show their films abroad.

Also in attendance were Executive Producer Stan Wlodkowski (American Beauty, In the Valley of Elah) and the upcoming Sony Pictures EAT PRAY LOVE starring Julia Roberts, as well as, Philip Lee (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Dark Knight).

This year, in the lead up to the BALINALE International Film Festival (17-20 July 2009), we will hold an Acting Workshop with senior Indonesian actor Didi Petet contributing to the program. A student program will also be held in conjunction with the Ubud Writers & Readers festival (7 -11 October). Plus some exciting workshops to be held during the festival itself.
