    BALINALE and JiFFest Film Industry Forum, The two international film festivals (BALINALE and Jakarta International Film Festival) jointly present expert workshops and forums provided to aspiring and established filmmakers to help further develop career opportunities and inspire creative learning. Visiting international film executives from Sony Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, Time Warner, United International Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Motion Picture Association will discuss alongside local film professionals the current state of Indonesian films in an international marketplace, the need for infrastructure and a trained workforce to support the industry.     Festival Closing & Awards Presentation was held at the Holiday Inn Baruna ENVY Bar with many of the Filmmakers, Festival Friends, Supporters and Sponsors there to see this year’s much anticipated winners of the 2010 Audience Choice Awards. The drum rolls went out to: Best Overall Film – OCEAN HEAVEN, China Best Feature Film - THE SOCIAL NETWORK, USA Best Short Film – MANUAL PRACTICO DEL AMIGO IMAGINARIO, Spain Best Documentary – EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP, USA / UK

    Film Industry Forum was held at the Bali Hyatt. Participating in the forum to discuss future film trends were Chelsie Preston-Crayford (actor HOME BY CHRISTMAS), Rachel Perkins (writer/director BRAN NUE DAE), Erin Heidenreich (producer MADE IN INDIA), Lee Chang-dong (writer/director POETRY), Robby Ertanto (director 7 LOVES 7 WOMEN), Jan Chapman (Producer), Donna Smith (Producer), David Michod (director ANIMAL KINGDOM), Anthony Anderson (Producer) and Xiao Lu Xue (writer/director OCEAN HEAVEN).

    Young Indonesian Film Circle Workshops start in Jakarta with “INTRODUCTION TO FILMMAKING”. Held for Indonesian students and aspiring filmmakers, the workshop is supported by MPA and will be conducted by Norman Abdul Halim of KRU in Malaysia and Craig Brand McTurk, a professor of documentary filmmaking.

    Film Industry Forum launches at Grand Hyatt Jakarta with FILM PRODUCTION, MARKETING, DISTRIBUTION AND THE NEED FOR INFRASTRUCTURE. The event is supported by Motion Picture Association (MPA), a global organization representing the interests of major motion picture companies and will be attended by many key industry players, investors and policy makers.

    Asian Film Commission Network Board of Directors has reappointed Deborah Gabinetti (Director, BALINALE) as the organization’s Vice President. Co-Vice President is Toshihiko Inoue, Director of Sapporo-Hokkaido Contents Strategy Organization. (photo). The Network includes forty regular and two associate members from fifteen countries; China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Jordon, Thailand, Taiwan and USA (Honolulu).
