Bali International Film Festival (or Balinale), was established in 2007 by Deborah Gabinetti together with founding partner Bali Film Center (BFC), a private company providing professional production services throughout Indonesia since 2002.

The 17th edition of Balinale will be held on Bali, Indonesia from Saturday, 1 June – Friday, 7 June 2024. The festival venues will be announced in the coming months as we develop our programs and events. There are also a number of pre-events held at various Bali venues as part of the ‘Road to Balinale’ program.

The festival only accepts submissions via FilmFreeWay. Please enter your project at filmfreeway.com/BaliInternationalFilmFestival

Submission Deadline Dates 2024:

1. Early Bird Deadline : 11 January

2. Regular Deadline : 15 March

3. WNI Deadline : 15 March

4. Late Deadline : 4 April

Documentary Feature Length: This category is reserved for any film whose runtime is minimum 40 minutes or more. Short: This category is reserved for any film whose runtime is under 40 minutes.

Narrative Feature Length: This category is reserved for any film whose runtime is between 90-150 minutes. Short: This category is reserved for any film whose runtime is 20 minutes or less (including credits).

•Films must have been completed within one year of the festival dates.

•Non-English language films must be either subtitled or dubbed in English.

•Submission forms must be complete to include all press kit specifications.

•Encrypted films will not be accepted.

A limited number of free submissions will be provided for Indonesian Nationals (WNI). Please refer to the WNI CATEGORY at visit filmfreeway.com/BaliInternationalFilmFestival for details.

Submission Fee Waivers for NON-INDONESIAN productions will only be considered when a request is received between 25 February – 29 February.

Note: Premieres and Award Winners are given priority. Only submission awarded waivers will be notified.

The notification date for all films submitted to the festival is Wednesday, 1 May.

Note: All exhibition materials of SELECTED FILMS must be received in our office by Wednesday, 15 May.

A limited number of tickets are reserved by the Festival for each filmmaker’s screening his film.

Note: the Festival program does not cover travel costs or any related expenditures.

Bali International Film Festival is not responsible for covering any screening, loaner, or shipping fees associated with the submissions.
